The Museum of Telecommunications, located in the old classsrooms of Puskás Tivadar Vocational High School, opened its doors with the slogan „Living knowledge for the future”. The rich exhibition can be visited, by prior appointment, between 10:00-13:00 a.m. and 4:00-6:00 p.m. Until the end of March all guests of the 23. Saint George Days will be announced, during the last month being mentioned those which are organized independently, but their hosts find it important to be a part of the festival’s programme – claim the organizers. For the first time a chocolate festival will be held in Sfântu Gheorghe (in Hungarian: Sepsiszentgyörgy) at 27-29 September. The Chocofest will be launched under the slogan Sweet Transylvania , the organizers are: the Covasna County Chamber of Commerce, the Mayor's Office of Sfântu Gheorghe (Sepsiszentgyörgy) and the Covasna County Council. The International Folk Dance Festival and Autumn Fair was held in Sfântu Gheorghe (in Hungarian: Sepsiszentgyörgy) at 21-22 September this year for the second time. The meeting of the genres was the main aspect in the first edition of the compilation of PulzArt contemporary arts festival program, which was organizes at 5-8 September in Sfântu Gheorghe (Sepsiszentgyörgy). The Szekler Gallop was held at Óriáspince Hill on 13-14 July for the third time. The two-day events major part was the riding, and the evenings were filled with cultural programs, where the local riders participated. Candles, ceramics and pottery, knitwear, weavings, jewelry, wood carvings and other original gifts and creative Christmas decorations were offered at the Christmas Fair in the heart of Sfântu Gheorghe (Sepsiszentgyörgy) between 14–24 December. Plans approved and construction contract signed on 25th November, three years after winning the construction tender, for establishing a seventeen hectare (17 ha) industrial park at Câmpul Frumos (Szépmező). The date of this year’s Sekler Gallop was finalized. The large scale event organized by the local government of our city will take place during the period 14-15 July. Gödri Ferenc Jr. was one of the most remarkable mayors of our city, leading and building Sepsiszentgyörgy for a period of 18 years (starting with the 20th of July 1895 until his early death on the 5th of July 1913). The Szent György days return in 2012. The cultural week will be extended with one more day, the program lasting from the 21st until the 29th of April this year. The large scale theatrical event, organized for the 2nd time by the Tamási Áron Theatre, the City Council and the County Council of Sepsiszentgyörgy, will take place during the period 16-29 March, 2012. Last year our city celebrated its 550 years of urban status. The local government of Sepsiszentgyörgy wanted to make the anniversary memorable by various series of events organized all year round. This year Sepsiszentgyörgy is the Cultural and Youth Capital of Sekler Land. The year-round series of programs entitled “Cultural and Youth Capital of Sekler Land” has been organized on behalf of the Mayor’s Office and the City Council’s order. Sepsiszentgyörgy will be the scene of an intimate memorial during the period 9-15 March. Memorial celebrations will take place on several sites of the city with the occasion of the 164th anniversary of the 1848-1849 Revolution. By purchasing the factory building of the LRO company the Autoliv Ltd. from Sweden aims to create 600 jobs in Sepsiszentgyörgy: it will establish a plant manufacturing vehicle safety components already this year Kőnig Frigyes, President of the Hungarian University of Fine Arts is coming to our city at the invitation of the Cultural Center from Árkos, the Lábas Ház and the MAGMA Contemporary Art Exhibition Space. During the period 28 February-2 March our city warmly welcomed a delegation from the Hungarian Mosonmagyaróvár in the pursuit of developing a town-twinning relationship between the two cities. The „Kónya Ádám” Cultural Centre calls for the application of visual artists in the framework of the 4th edition of the pulzArt Contemporary Art Festival. The project’s theme is the rehabilitation of 3 building passages in Sfantu Gheorghe. The project’s partners’ are: the Tone Troopers Association and the Chamber of Romanian Architects. The project is co-funded by the Administration of the National Cultural Fund of Romania.The project’s main objective is the creative rehabilitation of building passages in Sfantu Gheorghe by visual artists. Artists are to be selected through an open call procedure.
